ASA Metro Champions at 18U
The Lisle Slammer 18U team sweeps through the Chicago Metro ASA tournament winning free bid to the ASA Nationals! The 18U Slammers will be representing the Chicago Chapter of ASA with the Lisle Slammer name!
Tough tournament where team was down to 9 players at times due to injuries and those injured players were there to keep their team mates going. Coming from behind in a couple battles, this committed team of ladies hung together and battled through to not just win the tournament but to SWEEP it!
Looking to place well at Nationals for the Slammers!
The 13U Lisle Slammers clinched their first two games of the World Series defeating the Trojanettes 5-4 and the Joliet Dirt Devils 8-4. In game one, #21 Megan Hinkle was awarded the MVP for her outstanding diving catch during the 7th inning. In game two, #6 Julia Rainer was awarded the MVP for her solid pitching performance. In game three, #23 Julia Ullmann was awarded the MVP for her huge blast in the 5th inning. In game four, #11 Maddie Smith was awarded the MVP for her outstanding 1st base and offensive performance. GO SLAMMERS!!
Finish 17th out of 110
The 16U Slammers (Wood) completed a successful season finishing 17th at the largest national tournament in the midwest in Columbus, Ohio The tournament is unique in that it includes teams from all softball sanctioning bodies - like ASA, NSA, USSSA, PGF - and "A" level, "B" level, and "Open" level. The tourney hosted teams from 3 countries and about a dozen states. The Slammers finished 17th our of about 110 teams. In their successful run, the Slammers defeated the Indiana Nitro and Survivors Softball during pool play and the Central Ohio Ice and the Vipers (Northern Kentucky) in bracket play before finally succumbing to the New York Connection in the single elimination format. During pool play the Slammers also played and lost to the Oakville Angels (Toronto, Canada) and the Roadrunners (a top team from Southern Ohio).
